Hall of Fame Tickets Selling Fast

Neath Rugby Supporters Club are urging fans to secure their tickets for the Hall of Fame celebration night.

The event takes place on Friday 15th May and tickets are selling fast, with the night on course to become a sell out.

The evening will see five of Neath RFC’s all time greats inducted into the Hall of Fame, where they will join last year’s inductees. The five players nominated for this year’s honour are former Wales and Lions second row Rees Stephens, ex-Wales coach Ron Waldron, cup-winning captain Martyn Davies, Wales’ most capped lock Gareth Llewellyn and legendary hooker Kevin Phillips.

A spokesman for Neath Rugby Supporters Club commented “We are thrilled to see these great figures of Neath RFC become the latest players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They represent all that is good about the Neath RFC and is a fitting tribute to the club’s proud history in producing some of the giants of the game in Wales.”

The players (or their representatives) will attend the evening in order to be presented with their special commemorative caps. Also attending will be Wales’ record try scorer Shane Williams, who will be presented with the cap he was awarded last year. Shane was admitted to the Hall of Fame in 2014 but was unable to attend the celebration night due to his playing commitments in Japan.

The evening will also see the Neath Rugby Supporters Club Player of the Year awarded presented to one of the current squad.

The guest speaker on the evening will be popular BBC Scrum V presenter, Rick O’Shea.

The supporters club spokesman added “Both our previous Hall of Fame night and our Neath v New Zealand 25th anniversary celebration completely sold out and this event is on course to follow suit. We only have a limited number of tickets left and we would urge anyone who intends to come to secure their tickets as soon as possible.”

Tickets for the evening will be available from Neath Rugby Supporters Club committee members at the forthcoming game with Bridgend (18th April) or Bedwas (25th April). All money raised from the evening will be used to support the Neath RFC team in their preparations for the new season.

Between now and the end of the season, members can cast their vote and have their say.  Who has impressed you the most during the season?  Who has put in the most consistent performances week in, week out?

Register your vote by filling in one of the voting slips that will be available at the Aberavon game on 6 April.  Simply fill in the slip and hand it to any supporters club committee member.

Alternatively you can vote by e-mailing info@neathrugbysupporters.com.  Please remember to include your name, membership number and of course your player with your vote.

The player with the most votes will then be presented with their award at the Hall of Fame night on Friday 15th May.

So getting thinking, and make sure you vote for your favourite player.

Hall of Fame Board to be Unveiled

Neath Rugby Supporters club are pleased to announce that the Hall of Fame name board has today been put up in the club house.

The board which was received at the 2014 Hall of Fame night, contains the names of the Neath RFC greats that were admitted last year, and will shortly have the names of this year’s entrants added to it.

The board now has pride of place in the clubhouse and will be officially unveiled after the Neath v Aberavon game on Monday afternoon. Tickets to this year’s Hall of Fame night will also be available for purchase.

Neath Rugby Supporters Club are very grateful to Keith and Tracey in the clubhouse for their willingness in allowing the board to be displayed.

Who’s in – 2015 Hall of Fame inductees revealed

Hall of FameFollowing months of nominations and careful deliberations, the five inductees into the 2015 Neath Rugby Supporters Club have been chosen.

The five Neath greats will be inducted into the hall at a special celebration evening on Friday 15th May.

The chosen five are (in no particular order):

Rees Stephens
Wales international Rees Stephens won 32 caps for Wales in the second row between 1947 -1957.  He won his first cap against England in January 1947 and went on to win two caps for the British Lions on their tour to Australia in 1952, with a shoulder injury preventing him from facing New Zealand on the same trip.

Martyn Davies
Martyn Davies captained Neath during the club’s centenary year of 1971/72.  The scrum half capped a memorable season by leading the team to victory in the first Welsh cup final at the National Stadium in Cardiff.  Martyn made 511 appearances for Neath.  Following retirement in 1977, Martyn went on to coach the club and serve on the management committee.

Ron Waldron
Prop forward Ron Waldron won four caps for Wales in 1975, but it as a coach during the club’s golden era for which is best remembered.  Working in tandem with 2014 Hall of Famer, Brian Thomas, Ron led the club to unparalleled success.   His spell in charge saw Neath become one of the most sucessful and feared club sides in Europe and oversaw the emergence of some of the club’s greatest players.

Kevin Phillips
Kevin Phillips was the captain of Neath’s all conquering team of the late 1980s and early 1990s.  The hooker helped build Neath into one of the most successful teams in the land and led a pack that put fear into the hearts of anyone who had the misfortune of coming up against them.  He led the club to two cup final victories and the inaugural Welsh league championship in 1991.

Gareth Llewellyn
Gareth Llewellyn is Wales’ most capped lock forward.  He first came to prominence during in 1989 when a comanding performance in Neath’s game against New Zealand resulted in him winning his first cap just a few weeks later.  Gareth went on to captain the club for many seasons, including leading the team to the league championship in 1996.  Playing alongside brother Glyn, the Llewellyn brothers racked up 100 appearances for Wales!!

These five players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday 15th May, where they (or their representatives) will be awarded with their commemorative caps.

The evening will also see Shane Williams presented with his 2014 cap.  BBC Scrum V’s Rick O’Shea will be the guest speaker.

Tickets for the evening will be on sale at the Neath v Aberavon match on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th April.  Tickets cost £7.50 for supporters club members and £12.50 for non-members.

Shane Williams to attend Hall of Fame night

We’re pleased to announce that Shane Williams​ will be attending our Hall of Fame night on May 15th.

Shane was of course admitted to the Hall of Fame last year, but was unable to attend due to his playing commitments in Japan.  This year, however he will be there to receive the cap he was awarded last year.

If you haven’t got your ticket yet, then snap them soon before they all go.  Costing just £7.50 to supporters club members and £12.50 to non-members, they are great value for a memorable evening in the company of Shane, guest speaker Rick O’Shea and some of Neath RFC’s all-time greats.

Tickets Go on Sale for Neath Rugby Supporters Club’s Hall of Fame Evening

Steve and DaiTickets for Neath Rugby Supporters Club’s Hall of Fame celebration evening have gone on sale.

The inaugural celebration will take place on Friday, May 15th at the Neath Rugby Clubhouse where BBC Scrum V’s Rick O’Shea will be guest speaker. The evening will see five of Neath RFC’s all time legends inducted in to the Hall of Fame and fans are invited to come along.

A spokesman for Neath Rugby Supporters Club said “Once again this year, the Hall of Fame initiative has really captured the imagination of fans. We have had almost 50 different players nominated and from them, the final five inductees will be chosen. Those five will then be honoured at this special celebration where they will be presented with a special commemorative cap”

Tickets are priced at £7.50 for supporters club members and £12.50 for non-members. They’ll be available before and after Neath’s game with Newport on Friday night from the supporters club table in the clubhouse.

The spokesman added “Last year’s Hall of Fame night was a sell out and tickets for this year’s event are also selling fast. We would urge anyone who wishes to attend to secure their ticket before they all go”

Hall of Fame tickets on sale this Saturday

Hall of FameJust a quick reminder that tickets for the Hall of Fame evening on 15 May will go on general sale at the Neath v Cardiff game this Saturday.

Sales have been going extremely well, with many members buying their tickets over the last couple of weeks.  Remaining tickets will now be available on a first come, first served basis from this Saturday.  Prices are £7.50 for Neath Rugby Supporters Club members and £12.50 for non-members and will be available before and after the game from the supporters club table in the clubhouse.

The celebration evening will take place on Friday May 15th at 7:30 pm at the Neath RFC Clubhouse with guest speaker Rick O’Shea.  Rick will oversee an evening in which five more Neath RFC greats will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Neath Rugby Supporters Club Make Another Donation to Squad

Neath Rugby Supporters ClubNeath Rugby Supporters Club are pleased to announce their latest donation to the Neath RFC squad.

The latest donation is a set of waterproof clothing for the coaching and medical staff to wear at games.

The gear has been bought with the money raised as a result of the 2014 Hall of Fame and the Neath v New Zealand 25th anniversary evening held last October.

The supporters club would like to thank its members and everyone else who has supported them at these events which has resulted in this purchase.

The new gear will be worn by the coaches and medical staff at tomorrow’s game with Llanelli.

R&SD Risk Management to Sponsor Hall of Fame

Hall of FameNeath Rugby Supporters Club are pleased to announce that R&SD Risk Management have agreed to sponsor the 2015 Hall of Fame.

R&SD Risk Management are of course this season’s main shirt sponsors and backed our 2014 Hall of Fame. Neath Rugby Supporters Club are very grateful to Rhys and Sarah for their ongoing support.

The celebration evening will take place on Friday May 15th at 7:30 pm at the Neath RFC Clubhouse. Tickets go on sale to Neath Rugby Supporters Club members at the Llanelli game on Saturday 7th February. They will then go on general sale to non-members from the 7th March.
